Nandrolone decanoate is a form of Nandrolone. It is an ester of decanoic acid bonded to the 17-beta hydroxyl group. This modified form of nandrolone is not as polarized which generates slow absorption into the bloodstream. Once the nandrolone decanoate is in the blood the decanoate ester is separated from the testosterone making it free and active. This type of esterified steroid is designed to prolong the effect of the hormone in the body, requiring less injections compared to other steroids that are not esterified. Nandrolone decanoate has a half life of approximately 3 weeks.
In comparison to testosterone, nandrolone has the same capacity to aromatize, meaning testosterone converts into estrogen but in much smaller quantities. Nandrolone is 80% less aromatizing than testosterone due to fact that the metabolic effect takes place in the liver, unlike other substances where the effect can take place in the bones, adipose tissue, mammary glands, testicules in males, ovaries and uterus in women. If high doses are taken it is recommended to use an antiestrogen such as clomiphene citrate to avoid gynecomastia, water retention and body fat gain due to high estrogen levels. Nandrolone has a progestational activity which commonly causes side effects similar to those of high estrogen levels
Nandrolone decanoate is a white crystallised powder, easy to compress and stable in normal environmental conditions.
Nandrolone decanoate is an oil base generally a very light yellow to transparent in colour. In normal concentrations it does not tend to crystallize within the vial. Unlike other substances the viscosity of nandrolone decanoate is higher but it is not common to find it on its own.
